I've uploaded the latest (and last) free version of the "Better Spread Betting" book here. This is your last chance to read it for free before it is completed and published. Enjoy!

The "Better Spread Betting" book is now much much better!
Jump straight to the book, or...
I've been away on a family boating holiday this week but when not above decks piloting the boat, I've been below decks working on the Better Spread Betting book. Some holiday, huh?
In the latest version I have corrected some spelling and grammar issues, added some new content, and included more responses to my "one more thing" question is Chapter 8. Enjoy it while it's free here, and please feed back plus spread the word if you can.

"Better Spread Betting" is now even better!
You may remember that a month ago I initiated the Better Spread Betting project to author a new spread betting book initially on-line. It's progressing nicely, the content is evolving all the time, and you can read and comment on the latest version for free at http://www.betterspreadbetting.com/p/book.html. Happy reading!

Create a Portfolio News Page
I can't believe I forgot to post a link to this one -- my last Foolish article, titled Create a Portfolio News Page. It's a perfectly amicable separation, but in these austere times it seems the Motley Fool can no longer afford to keep me in the style to which I had become accustomed :-(

My Best-Selling Books
I was reading a book the other day, which had the words "New York Times Best-Seller" plastered on the front.
Believe it or not, I too have some "best sellers" to my name. Out of the several books that I have authored, Amazon tells me that "my" best sellers are:
Stop Orders (my best-selling book)
Position Trading (my second-best-selling book)
Yes, I've been a little clever with my wording here. They might not (yet) be New York Times Best-Sellers, but they're definitely my best sellers! And the reviews are pretty good, too.

The Spread Betting Attrition Rate
Have you ever watched the Blackadder Goes Forth episode titled "Private Plane"? It's the one in which our heroes join the Royal Flying Corps, unaware that the nickname for that squad -- "The Twenty Minuters" -- refers to the average life expectancy for new pilots. For me, this is a perfect analogy for spread betting. Read more...

Do you think that by investing in a FTSE 100 tracker or placing a UK 100 spread bet you are putting your eggs into many baskets? Think again...
